Lexington Baptist Church
Lexington Baptist Church’s growing children's and youth activities programs created a need for additional classroom space. The desire to keep this building connected to the exiting classroom building meant that the previous family life center, that has now been relocated across the street, must be demolished in order to create a suitable site. The new 57,000 sf children's education building design combines classrooms, children's worship spaces, offices, as well as a fellowship hall and full size commercial kitchen. Large expanses of glass are used to introduce abundant daylight into these larger gathering spaces while the contextual vernacular of the exiting campus buildings is retained in the design of the building envelope. The project is slated to be completed in early 2008.
