The project is located on the top five floors of a historic 10-story mid-rise structure originally owned by the client's grandfather and father. As the third-generation leader of the family company, the client wished to respect the history of the building while at the same time offering a unique office environment that could set the tone for the future of the company. The 9th and 10th floors highlighted the renovation scope and held the new executive staff offices and board room.
An existing central fire stair was transformed into a sandblasted granite pavilion which serves as a visual and functional hub offering storage, circulation, and support facilities to the 10th floor space. The existing large windows demanded that spatial openness be preserved. A delicate steel and glass partition assembly was conceived to allow for four private offices while maintaining the ambiance offered by ever-changing natural light. This concept is punctuated by an 11th floor balcony which offers panoramic views of the room and the city beyond. The entire construct is capped by a new "lattice" ceiling system which visually filters the various utility services above, while integrating the multiple offices and spaces below into a single unified whole.

“Scott has worked with us architecturally on our primary residence, our vacation beach residence, the remodeling of Liberty’s corporate headquarters and most recently the remodeling of an old building for Liberty’s new corporate headquarters. All have been unique, stunning and a wonderful reflection of his architectural strengths. During our fifteen years with Scott, we have found him to be flexible, balanced, cost conscious and patient but firm with his contractors and sub-contractors. He combines his creativity with a well-organized execution and most importantly, an absolute focus on his client. He has our highest recommendation as an architect, a business manager and a person of integrity.”
