Garvin Design Group is pleased to announce that interior designer Liza Brockman graduated with the Leadership Columbia class of 2023 in a ceremony held at the Columbia Museum of Art on the evening of June 6. The Leadership Columbia class of 2023 previously unveiled its completed class project at St. Lawrence Place, a comprehensive renovation of outdoor space and the addition of select interior finishes.
Designed to provide class members with an in-depth exploration of issues facing the Midlands community, Leadership Columbia is the Columbia Chamber’s 10-month leadership development program. Each Leadership Columbia class completes a two-day retreat, nine monthly day-long class sessions, and a multi-month class project designed to support a local nonprofit. Program graduates are encouraged to continue their service to the community post-graduation.
“It’s been a great experience getting to know my Leadership Columbia classmates – we’re such a diverse group,” Liza said. “I’m so glad we had the opportunity to help Homeless No More through our class project.”
Liza Brockman has been a member of the Garvin Design Group team since 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at Clemson University and her Master of Interior Architecture at the University of Oregon and previously practiced at PIVOT Architecture in Eugene, Oregon. In her time with Garvin Design Group, Brockman has been part of the design teams behind numerous collegiate athletics, hospitality, and higher education projects. She is an active member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
“Liza has been such an asset to our team, we knew she would excel in the Leadership Columbia experience,” said Scott Garvin, founder and President of Garvin Design Group. “We are so proud of the work she has done with this year’s class project at St. Lawrence Place. We know she will continue to do great things in the Columbia community.”
