Granby Mill Apartments
Granby Mill
One of Columbia’s long-vacant historic textile mills, the 270,000 sf Granby Mill was originally constructed in 1895. An ambitious, multiphase project adapted Granby Mill and the adjacent Olympia Mill for new use as apartments. The renovation of Granby Mill created more than 140 apartments with a mix of one, two, and four-bedroom units. Each apartment is designed with a second-floor sleeping loft. Living areas and bedrooms are bathed in daylight from the original window openings, bricked up during the 1950s but refitted with new, historically accurate windows. Common spaces are located within a center spine on each floor. Site development included added surface parking and a swimming pool and tennis court complex.
