Meg Southern SYMS

Marketing Director

 

Meg earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History at the College of William and Mary in 2012 and went on to complete her Master of Arts in Public History at the University of South Carolina in 2014. She returns to Columbia after a two-year stint in Atlanta and is GDG’s first Marketing Manager. Following completion of her graduate program, Meg served as Assistant Principal at USC’s International House at Maxcy College. In this role she managed the International House’s multiple social media accounts, created marketing materials, and served as liaison to prospective students. Meg also moonlighted as a preservation consultant with Historic Columbia, enabling her to work with GDG on tax credit projects including City Market and 1649 Main Street. Her work with the Historic Preservation Certification Application led her to join tax credit consulting firm Novogradac & Company’s Atlanta office in 2016. Meg further honed marketing skills as the VP of Social Media for the Atlanta chapter of her undergraduate alumni association. Outside of work, Meg enjoys spelunking in old buildings, seeking out live music, and traveling to visit family and friends.
