Terry Buchmann AIA, LEED AP
A Garvin Design Group Principal since 2006, Terry has played a key leadership role in the design and management of various private, institutional and corporate projects throughout South Carolina. Terry especially enjoys the process of architectural design and the necessary balance of aesthetics and technical detailing. In keeping with GDG’s commitment to continuity throughout the design and construction process, he has extensive experience in the field and has consistently overseen the construction administration of projects he has designed. For more than 20 years, he has worked extensively in higher education in both the academic and athletic realms. Terry’s recently completed projects include the new Soccer Operations Complex at Clemson University and the Club Space Renovations at the University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice Stadium. He has played a key design and management role in UofSC’s Band & Dance Facility and Women’s Quad Renovations, as well as major renovations for their Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball programs. At several state universities, Terry has been involved in feasibility studies for both academics and athletics, including studies for Clemson’s golf and soccer facilities; Clemson’s Business School; Clemson’s Advanced Materials Innovation Complex; and UofSC’s Student Union. He is currently engaged in master-planning efforts for UofSC’s recreation fields complex and golf team facilities. Terry has also worked extensively at Coastal Carolina University, completing the Academic Office and Classroom Building II and the HTC Center (CCU’s student recreation center and basketball arena) in recent years. In addition to his work in higher education, Terry’s project portfolio covers a wide range of commercial markets, including the Granby Mill Housing Redevelopment; Chapin United Methodist Church Sanctuary and Children’s Education Addition; Lexington Medical Center’s Wellness Facility; Corporate Offices for Coldwell Banker United, Realtors; and the South Carolina Realtors Headquarters.
